Nanaimo Bars

Nanaimo bars are a delicious uncooked dessert bar that was invented in British Columbia, Canada. There are many variations of the Nanaimo bar; however, they all have three layers formed from a biscuit crumble, nuts and cocoa, butter icing and melted chocolate on top. The best results are gained when you use top quality chocolate.

Some recipes include Birds Custard powder in the butter icing, while others call for coffee or mint. They are eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are the perfect afternoon snack with a nice cup of tea or coffee. Make sure that you serve them at room temperature and use a very sharp knife to stop the chocolate cracking when cutting.

You may hear that Nanaimo bars are 'moreish'. Do not feel confused, this just means that one is never enough, you always want more!
