Online Giving at Southern Hills Christian Church and Frequently Asked Questions
Together – What a difference we make when we work together sharing the love of God! At Southern Hills we are guided by our vision statement, “Jesus Christ calls us to be a faith community that nurtures people in spiritually transforming relationship with God, others and all creation.”
Our vision and mission is embodied by four core values – Worship, Service to Others, Koinonia, and Deepening Spirituality. Our core values are the elements of who we are and how our church is structured. Through your prayers, discernment and generosity we are able to live out our vision and mission to make a difference in the lives of many. Giving is a vital part of spiritual formation and maturity. Giving is an active expression of our faith.
What is online giving?
Online giving is a method of giving using an automatic transfer program that allows you to make contributions without writing checks.
What payment methods can I use when giving online?
You can use text message, a credit card or a debit card linked to your checking account.
Can I use my Smartphone for making donations?
You can use your computer, Smartphone, or tablet. You can also donate by phone via Text Giving.
When is the contribution charged to my checking account or charge card?
Transactions usually take 1-2 days business days, so contributions scheduled Friday through Sunday may not show up on your account until early the following week.
Can anyone at SHCC see my account numbers? Is my giving history confidential?
No one at the church has access to your personal financial information. The church receives notification when your online gift is made and what fund it is for, so it can be received and recorded properly by Suellen, the Church Administrator. There is no change in the security and privacy of your donations to Southern Hills. Your individual giving history is not publicly accessible. You may view your giving record through the SimpleChurch app or website, but no one else has access to your confidential giving information.
Can I donate to various funds in the church?
Yes, you can donate to benevolence and special missions events (when listed) as well as toward your pledge.
How often will the amount be deducted from my account?
That is up to you. You can make a one-time donation or set up recurring donations through SimpleChurch.
Can I change the amount of my recurring gift?
Yes. You can change the amount or frequency of your gift at any time.
Are there fees associated with online giving?
The church incurs a processing fee of 2.4% of the amount donated plus a 30 cent transaction fee for each donation.
Why do people use credit cards for giving?
Many individuals use credit cards for all expenditures, to help with record keeping or to gain bonus awards. Giving online turns your intentions into reality with ease. After prayer, decide whether your desire is to make a one-time or recurring contribution. You don’t have to remember to write out a check each Sunday or each month, or remember to mail it in or drop it by when you’re gone for an extended period. Giving online is a personal preference. We recommend and encourage the use of electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking account rather than a credit card. We encourage you to be good stewards of your financial resources. By providing the convenience of online giving, we are not encouraging credit card debt.
